I figured it would give me something different to do, I even tried to emulate the style a bit. Also I like winning free stuff, but I don't have a DS, so if I win I'll probably give the game to a friend.
The contest article is a bit vague so I read up on the game, looked at some more pics, looked at pictures of Shibuya and fashion trends in shibuya (I saw alot of girls with the end of their hair curled.) and bam!
Mostly digital too. I worked over a pencil sketch but I adjusted the line so much while inking, I kind of like being able to do that.
Great work! I really like the lineart and the colours alot
Hope you do well in the contest ^^

Sai that game came out already. All Square-Enix is doing is getting a whole bucnh of free ideas from young upstart artists for a six month subscription to DA.
Companies do this all the time to prey off of inexperienced but talented artists. Even though the game this contest is about has already been released in Japan for a while and is thus finished, nothing will stop Square from using the material they get from this contest in any future projects they have on the slate. And since it was a contest, there will be some legal clause somewhere in the fine print that gives them the right to use whatever they want without compensating or recognizing the original artist in any way, shape or form.
I'm not so keen on the actual competition (though it's neat seeing the concept art as I already have the game on preorder) but none the less this is a kickass image. You got the style down nicely, and I really dig the coloured static on the birds. It's a nice touch.
