Artist's Comments
Well another sketch of NiGHTS has ended in a full-blown experiment in Photoshop. This seems to happen every time I artistically starve myself XD
I think I've had NiGHTS on the brain lately. Probably because today I replaced the battery for the memory in my Sega Saturn (  I can't believe the previous one lasted like... 8 years... ) which means I can now SAVE the game again  Anyhoo, NiGHTS here is in the traditional outfit from the game. Thats a Terragen rendering in the background. I got to mess around with some of the new kinds of brushes in Photoshop CS. Alot of blending layer stuff. The coloring was purposefully dull, the lineart on multiply and tinted with the "hue and saturation" function, shaded with one of the new brushes and the smudge tool.. and just.. XD kinda zoned out and did it. All with "Float On" by Modest Mouse playing in my head, which is what made me start sketching the original pic. I'm gonna upload two plain sketch versions in my SCRAPS, look for those as well.  Hurray for random experiments. I don't generally like to color pencil sketches/drawings, but I've admired alot of ~bgeezus 's work. Nothing wrong with experimenting with new techniques. That and I barely have the attention span for fanart. |
