Lame I know naming an illustration after the song I was listening to when I drew the sketch (Back to Gray by The Thermals, who I've been diggin' lately) but I couldn't think of anything else.

Also all the gray is because of that.

Anyway, I inked the lineart (with real inks) a while ago and kind of was going back and forth on the coloring. Finally a epiphany hit me: use tablet to make like painting!

I think I am more comfortable with the tablet now.

I wanted to pay much more attention to color and lighting, and I think I did pretty well, though I'm afraid it looks like what alot of other people are doing right now.

There was originally supposed to be more characters but I decided I liked it just like this. The feathers were fun to do, there was originally six inked on the lineart, but I just used the lines as guidelines and then erased them. Then I lazily copied the feathers for the rest. I added blur effects to try and give the piece a bit of depth.

Azrael, inspired by a song, not much else to say about it. I seem to have a thing for drawing him with a cloth over his scarred eye. Also didn't shoehorn in some wings for once, I think the feathers are enough
